It's taken a while but I have finally re-stoked the fire under my Cygnar painting spirit. Painted model count 2015: 4
I finished this about a month ago but with moving house I haven't had a chance to post him yet. Blood Axe Nob Model painted in 2015: 2
I've just finished up my first painted model of 2015 and I think I'm gonna try and keep track of my painting again, so here he is Kaptin Badrukk. Models Painted in 2015 so far: 1
The guns are also ready for a mold and the mount only needs a bit more detailing. Everything seems to be shaping up.
The weapon emplacement is coming along nicely. The fittings are all complete just detailing left to do. You can't see it in the picture but the trigger grip is actually textured. After what seems like an age of inactivity the Ork Mekshop is back. This time I am scratch building and Ork 'Aegis' Defence Line with attached Quad/Flakka gun. Using no GW parts in the construction means that I can sell this as a set once I'm finished. So now time for some pictures. Finally finished my first Warzone Resurrection miniature. Here is my Mishima Meka. I'm thinking about doing some fine filigree work on the armour, but that can wait until later.
And now for something a bit different. Here is my initial foray into Warzone Resurrection with my Mishima faction.
Of course they are converted like most of the rest of my miniatures. Here is a quick shot of the Outpost I am building or my Orks. And the start of the next project. Bikers from Deffkoptas. The rear wheel assembly, front forks and weapon arm are separate so they can be cast allowing me to convert as many of these as I can lay my grubby Ork mitz on.
I've had a chance to cast some track units for my Wartrakks and got my hands on some handlebars so here are the 'almost' finished Wartrakks.
In my latest game I felt my unit of Nobz and Warboss needed some extra protection. So I set about creating a painboy for the unit. And here he is painted.
Here are a couple of Warlocks for my wife's Harlequin Eldar army. And now here they are with the Solitaire.
Here are some conversions I'm working on for my Ork Army, The Grabby Gitz. Based on the Dawn of War Ork Wartrakk and inspired by this tutorial from Irondog Studios. Here is a pic of the custom track section. I need to wait until I can get some more silicone rubber before I can cast enough track sections for all the Trakks.
With the release of the new Eldar book I decided it was time to re-vamp my wife's Harlequin Eldar army. So here is my Farseer/Autarch Harlequin Solitaire. I think I'm gonna paint a playing card onto his cloak but I just need to drum up the courage to start it.
I haven't exactly kept this blog up to date so far but here is a new offering. This is my Blood Angels Librarian converted from the Dark Vengeance set. He is being painted as a showcase piece for a project at STAGS.
The latest project in the Monstrous Makings series has begun. This is going to be the first full sculpt out of wax. I was planning on doing a Bull Taurus/Lamassu sculpt but I felt that was pushing my limits a bit too quick. I set up the armature on Saturday night and started sculpting it on Sunday, roughing up the general shape to this stage. Last night I worked on the definition in the legs and feet, not a lot of difference overall but the legs look much better.
2 updates this time. Firstly is the Warshrine i've been working on for a while. I decided I wanted the lead eagle to be different to the from the others so I painted it as a Bald Eagle and the others a standard ones. Secondly is the Gorebeast Chariot that I created out of the remains of one of my Warshrines. The Ogre Champion of the back works out as the same strength and attacks as the 2 Chaos Warriors that normally ride it, and the Polar Bear should be a match for the usual Gorebeast The Zoat is finally finished. The master sculpt has been poured in a Silicone rubber mould and I've got the first casting back assembled and painted, he just need to have his base finished. I'll be starting the next project in the Monstrous Makings Series in the next week or so so keep your eyes peeled for a sneak preview.
Having re-vamped some of the other units in my Warriors of Chaos army I thought the Warshrine needed an update. Once GW released their model for the Warshrine my old ones looked a bit small so I decided this one needed to be bigger. Not having an appropriate platform for the shrine was the first stumbling block so I set to work texturing a piece of poly-urethane to create a wooden platform. The original plan was to have the shrine held aloft by 3 eagles but then the practicalities of that in battle necessitated a change. So I built a chassis for it and now have the eagles pulling the shrine. Here is a close-up of the details on top of the shrine. The Ogre Butcher is sacrificing a Skaven to appease the Dark Gods watched over by 2 Tzeentch statues. A few extra shots of the shrine from different angles.
During a narrative campaign that I'm part of at STAGS one of my Chaos Champions rose to Daemonhood so I thought I'd make him a new model. A friend of mine had a spare Juggernaught from his Warriors of Chaos so I thought I'd see what I could do with it. The only parts not from the Juggernaught kit are the arms/hand and weapon which came from the Ogre Kingdoms range.
Here he is painted and with a combination 40k/Fantasy base Finished painting the Daemon Prince last night, just need to base him now. I tried a new method when I painted this guy. I sprayed him white and for the most part used only Citadel Washes to shade the various parts. The metalwork got a coat of Mithril Silver before washing it with Nuln Oil or Asurman Blue while the skin and feathers just got 3 coats of Leviathan Purple. The beak and claws got a coat of Ogryn Flesh and the tree branch got some old chestnut wash. Next Project: Conversion work has already been finished on the Gorebeast Chariot (being ridden by an Ogre) and the new Warshrine was started tonight. With the new Warriors of Chaos book allowing Daemon Prince's to take Chaos Armour and the fact that my old Prince is a bit small, I thought I'd rebuild him. So I rooted through the bitz box and found an Inquisitor scale model to use for the main body and a Wood Elf Great Eagle and created this guy. The sword is a converted Eldar Avatar's sword and the armour was created using Ogre Iron Fists and greenstuff. Magos Scratchbuildicus has reawakened and started to Scratch Build again. I decided last weekend that I wanted a few more fliers for my Chaos so the Magos started work on 3 Hell Blade fighters. After 4 evenings work I've got 1 almost complete and the others well on the way. I've sculpted then cast the Reaper Auto-cannons and I still need to get 3 more cast. The engines and underside thrusters are also more detailed than the first 2. I also need to sort out some tubing for behind the cockpit.

ChrisI've been into wargaming since I was 8 and this is an attempt to document my hobby progress. It may well just prove my 'ooh shiny' sydrome. We'll just have to wait and see. Archives
